Background of the Study
The effectiveness of accounting information systems (AIS) in revenue collection has become increasingly important for local governments. These systems help in automating processes, reducing fraud, improving accuracy, and enhancing efficiency in the collection of taxes and other revenues. In Fagge Local Government Area (LGA), the implementation of AIS aims to streamline revenue generation and improve financial transparency. This study will explore how the use of AIS has impacted revenue collection in the area.
Statement of the Problem
Fagge LGA faces challenges in revenue collection, such as revenue leakage, inefficient manual systems, and lack of accountability. Despite the introduction of an AIS, issues related to ineffective implementation, low adoption rates, and system inefficiencies persist. This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of the AIS in addressing these issues.
Aim and Objectives of the Study
Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of the accounting information system in enhancing revenue collection in Fagge LGA.
Objectives:
Research Questions
Research Hypothesis
Significance of the Study
The findings will provide an understanding of how AIS contributes to effective revenue collection and will suggest recommendations for improving the system's implementation in Fagge LGA. This will be valuable to other local governments looking to implement or enhance their own accounting information systems.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
This study will focus on Fagge LGA, specifically examining the revenue collection processes and the use of AIS. Limitations may include the availability of data from relevant departments and the willingness of staff to participate in the study.
